Founding the Future: Culture, Technology and Business for a New Development Model in Calabria

An event organized by Associazione Civita together with the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria focused on the role of culture, technology and the business sector in building a sustainable development model for Calabria.

Introduced and moderated by Simonetta Giordani, the meeting brought together institutional representatives, museum leaders, university officials and business figures. The discussion centered on digitalization, skills training and public-private collaboration as means to turn the region's potential into concrete opportunities.

• Goal: create an ecosystem connecting institutions, universities, research, cultural heritage and the productive system.
• Cultural hubs: the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria is highlighted as a platform that combines conservation, accessibility and territorial development.
• Resources and opportunities: the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) allocates about €3.277 billion to the mission on Culture and Tourism for Calabria, of which roughly €692 million are designated for culture-specific projects.
• Outlook: strengthening digital infrastructure, training and investor relations to retain talent and increase the economic and social value of local heritage.

Speakers emphasized that digital transformation and corporate cultural responsibility can enable integrated development projects, provided there is shared vision and effective coordination among regional actors.
