Rievocando Lucca: historical reconstruction festival on the Walls

The fourth edition of Rievocando Lucca brings the city's walls to life with six days of reenactments, educational activities and shows. Organized within the Lucca Historiae project, the festival offers a timeline of local history through immersive experiences suitable for all ages.

Program highlights

  • Opening ceremony: Tuesday 19 May at 15:00 at Castello di Porta San Donato; a photographic exhibition displays the 40 shortlisted images from the Photo Contest.
  • Clock of Time (weekend 23–24 May): each bastion represents a different historical era with camps and reenactors from across Italy.
  • Performances: historical parades, simulated sieges, period dances and staged combats covering eras from antiquity to the 20th century.
  • Educational activities: school-oriented morning sessions with multi-stop routes and workshops led by reenactors.
  • Guided tours and urban treks: monument-focused itineraries; the first urban trek departs Tuesday 19 at 15:30 following the opening.
  • Exhibitions and displays: scale models, historical armament reproductions, sector publishers and the photo exhibition; contest winners awarded Saturday 23 May at 15:00.
