Oracles from Beyond the Sea: group exhibition of Villa Medici fellows

When: 19 June - 7 September 2026
Where: Villa Medici, Rome

Villa Medici hosts Oracles from Beyond the Sea, an exhibition that condenses a year of research and exchange among the sixteen fellows of the French Academy in Rome. The show features projects spanning multiple disciplines — from visual arts to art history and theory, from architecture to literature — arranged to blur traditional boundaries.

The exhibition frames each work as an oracle-like presence: pieces that prompt a shift in perception rather than offering fixed answers. The display invites visitors to wander through a space where narratives and visions surface in unexpected ways.

  • Selected artists: Nastasia Alberti, Jacques Kaufmann, Alice Visentin.
  • 2025–2026 fellows (highlights): Alia Bengana (architecture), Arianna Brunori (art history/theory), Diaty Diallo (literature), Marin Fouqué (literature).
  • Curators: Imma Tralli and Roberto Pontecorvo (Marea Art Project).

The exhibition title references Vera Tamari's work Oracles from the Sea (1998). A publication is issued alongside the show, documenting the fellows' research and including critical contributions by invited authors.

Visitor information: the exhibition is aimed at audiences interested in interdisciplinary artistic practices. For opening hours, ticketing and guided visits, please check Villa Medici's official channels.
