Rieti: 'Wearing History' at the Civic Museum — a journey through

"Wearing History": the panoply of Italy's pre-Roman peoples at the Civic Museum of Rieti

From 8 May 2026 to 6 January 2027 the Museo Diffuso Città di Rieti, in the archaeological section of the Museo Civico (via Sant'Anna 4), presents the exhibition "Wearing History. Before Rome: the mark of the sword, the weight of the shield". Based on the Silvano Mattesini Collection, the show focuses on weapons, armor and related objects to explore the customs, symbols and craftsmanship of Italy's ancient peoples.

The museum director, Francesca Lezzi, defines the exhibition as a sensory experience: alongside original finds, faithful modern reproductions bring metals and finishes back to life, helping visitors grasp the functions and social value of the panoply.
