During the weekend of May 2–3, 2026, Sassari welcomed 32,688 visitors for Monumenti Aperti. The event highlighted the city's cultural heritage, with coordinated openings, guided tours and experiential activities organized by the municipal culture and tourism office.
Well-planned logistics and a varied program of visits and events increased attendance compared with the previous year, reinforcing Sassari's appeal as a cultural destination.
Programs ranged from nature hikes on the Argentiera trails and around Lake Baratz to rural walks between Taniga and Logulentu. The Liberty-style route in the Cappuccini district and immersive experiences in historic palaces—such as the "Candelieri digitali" and extended-reality installations—proved particularly popular.
Local schools, the university and the Academy of Fine Arts actively participated, with students serving as guides alongside young musicians from the Conservatory and music schools. Popular side events included a period-costume picnic and temporary exhibitions in historic buildings.
Visitor tip: Monumenti Aperti in Sassari is an efficient way to explore a wide range of the city's heritage in a single weekend, suitable for guided tours, themed paths and family activities.
