The historic Caffè Giubbe Rosse in Florence presents Ray Banhoff's photographic exhibition "Viaggio in Italia." The show gathers images that blur the line between documentary and poetry, focusing on faces, domestic environments and provincial scenes that reveal an unexpected, peripheral Italy.
Ray Banhoff is the professional name of Gianluca Gliori (born 1982), a Tuscan writer and photographer. His work investigates marginality, decay and hidden beauty with a candid, sometimes provocative approach. He has collaborated with national magazines and develops projects combining photography, writing and live performances in informal venues such as bars.
Started in 2016, "Viaggio in Italia" revisits the idea of the Italian landscape by privileging portraits, interiors and everyday subjects: bedrooms, garages, recognized faces and strangers follow one another to create a social portrait made of small, telling details. The series favors authenticity over polished aesthetics.
