Prix Italia 2026 in L'Aquila: the 78th edition in the city's historic center

L'Aquila, Italy's 2026 Capital of Culture, will host the 78th edition of Prix Italia, the international competition organized by RAI that celebrates the best in radio, television and multimedia production. The festival and RAI previews will be held from 28 September to 2 October in the city's historic centre, a first in the event's history.

• Dates and venue: 28 September - 2 October 2026, central L'Aquila.
• Participation: more than 100 broadcasting organizations from around 90 countries are expected; directors, authors, artists and industry professionals will attend.
• Purpose: to highlight the role of broadcasters in promoting arts and culture, balancing creativity and technology.
• Local support: backed by the Abruzzo Region and the Film Commission to foster co-productions and local projects.
• Entries: open in the Radio & Podcast, TV and Digital sections (deadline set by the organizers).
• Awards and leadership: three special prizes (the Presidential Award, the Signis Award and the YLAB Award) and the edition's presidency for performing arts chaired by Corey Baker.

The selection of L'Aquila is framed as a cultural relaunch that can attract productions and major events, linking historical memory with contemporary transformation.
