Ostuni secures funding for “Argento” senior centre in confiscated property

The final ranking of the Puglia Beni Comuni call (PR Puglia FESR-FSE+ 2021-2027), presented in Bari, confirms Ostuni among the projects awarded funding. The approved intervention totals €980,000 and concerns the repurposing of a property confiscated from organised crime in Contrada Rosara into the social and cultural Centre “Argento”.

The initiative aims to return the space to the community, providing proximity welfare services and social inclusion activities, with a particular focus on older people and other vulnerable groups.

• Creation of recreational and cultural spaces;
• Local support and care services for seniors and fragile citizens;
• Intergenerational activities to promote social ties;
• Symbolic recovery of a confiscated asset for public use.

Mayor Angelo Pomes highlighted the project as «a concrete sign of legality and state presence in the territory», and the administration thanked the designers and municipal offices involved in the application process.

The funding enables Ostuni to launch a project that strengthens local welfare and converts a symbolically important asset into an accessible resource for citizens.
