May Day: concerts, marches and events across Italy
1 May 2026 sees Labour Day observed nationwide with concerts, union demonstrations and local initiatives focusing on work in the era of technological change.
- Rome – The annual concert in Piazza San Giovanni starts at 15:00, featuring a mix of established artists and emerging acts.
- Milan – March organised by CGIL, CISL and UIL: gathering at 09:30 in Corso Venezia (corner of Via Palestro), arriving at 11:00 in Piazza della Scala. The central theme is "Decent Work".
- Turin – Union march meeting at 09:00 in Corso Cairoli (corner with Corso Vittorio Emanuele II).
- Marghera (Venice) – Speeches by union leaders at 10:00 in Piazza del Mercato, focused on decent work.
- Bologna – Free concert in Piazza Maggiore from 16:00 until midnight, organised with local cultural partners.
- Taranto – UnoMaggio Libero e Pensante at the Parco Archeologico delle Mura Greche with national and local performers.
- Naples – In Bagnoli a march starts at 10:00 from Piazzale Tecchio; the afternoon includes a communal lunch and cultural activities in Piazza Mare.
- Bari – The Primo Baggio Barese at Parco 2 Giugno begins at 10:00 on 1 May and, for the first time, runs across three days with music and social discussions until 3 May.
- Palermo – UnoMaggio2026 at the Cantieri Culturali della Zisa from 13:00, featuring live music and DJ sets organised by local associations.
