Culture: Gioacchino da Fiore's 'Concordia' published in Italian

The International Center for Gioachimite Studies has issued the fifth volume of the Concordia of the New and the Old Testament, completing the first full Italian translation of Gioacchino da Fiore's work, previously available almost exclusively in Latin. Translation, introduction and commentary are by Gian Luca Potestà, professor emeritus of the History of Christianity.

  • Main contents: the fifth book explores meanings of the Old Testament and outlines twelve forms of spiritual understanding of the Scriptures, including seven typological reading methods.
  • Editorial project: the first four books were published in 2022; the fifth volume completes a multi-year editorial effort.
  • Scholarly significance: this edition makes a key text accessible for Gioachimite studies and opens new exegetical and historical research avenues.
  • Center's role: over 44 years the Center has organized conferences and academic collaborations, strengthening research on Gioacchino da Fiore and ties between scholarship and the local territory.

Riccardo Succurro, president of the International Center for Gioachimite Studies, described the publication as "a significant achievement for Gioachimite studies", emphasizing the value of a critical edition that supports further research.
