May Day 2026: Concertone and cultural programme

On 1 May 2026 Italy celebrates Labour Day with a full programme of cultural events. The centerpiece is the Concertone in Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome, starting at 15:00, with free admission until the venue reaches capacity.

Directed by Massimo Bonelli, this edition brings together established names and emerging artists. The 2026 theme, "The future is still ours", focuses on decent work and the challenges of the labour market in the age of artificial intelligence.

• Featured artists: Litfiba, Riccardo Cocciante, Irama, Ermal Meta, Madame, Emma, Francesca Michielin, Levante, Rocco Hunt and more.
• Taranto: the independent "Uno Maggio Libero e Pensante" returns at the Parco delle Mura Greche, offering music and spaces for debate on health, environment and rights.
• Other highlights: Rome's "Picnic in the Park" at Caracalla; special openings at state museums and archaeological sites; Milan hosts notable exhibitions such as "Robert Mapplethorpe. The Forms of Desire" at Palazzo Reale.

Attendance at the Concertone is free; early arrival and public transport are recommended due to traffic restrictions around the venue for safety reasons. The event will be broadcast live on RAI TV for those who cannot attend.
