Spazio 57 Art Gallery hosts "Pedine", a solo exhibition by Gioia Caliendo, curated by Ferdinando Sorrentino. The show centers on the archetypal "little man" as a universal emblem of the human condition.
The presentation includes about 20 works — mainly oil on canvas in various formats — together with two previously unseen sculptures. The installation develops a dual reading using the iceberg metaphor: the visible portion represents everyday appearances, while the submerged mass evokes the unconscious, hidden emotions and inner complexity.
Caliendo's painting is notable for its textured, expressive use of oil color; paintings and sculptures engage in a dialogue that produces layered readings of identity and social dynamics.
The exhibition invites visitors to look past surface appearances: Caliendo's "little man" functions as a narrative device that raises questions about private experience and collective life. Curator Ferdinando Sorrentino highlights the continuity of the artist's investigation across previous projects.
Practical tip: check for any schedule updates before visiting and consider attending the vernissage for direct engagement with the artist and curator.
