Punta Verde Zoo Park: nature and education in Lignano Sabbiadoro

Autore: Redazione 01/08/2025 13:58

The Punta Verde Zoo Park in Lignano Sabbiadoro is one of the most popular destinations in Northeast Italy for those seeking an educational, fun, and immersive experience in nature. With over 1,000 animals from 200 different species, the park — which spans more than 100,000 square meters of lush vegetation — is a true landmark for families, school groups, and lovers of biodiversity. Among the many species hosted are the hyacinth macaw, armadillo, boa constrictor, two-toed sloth, Goeldi’s marmoset, capybara, frilled lizard, prairie dog, camel, red kangaroo, bearded dragon, Indian whistling duck, oystercatcher, and many others.

Each habitat is carefully recreated to respect the ethological needs of the animals, with a focus on well-being, conservation, and sustainability. A strong emphasis is placed on educational projects, including school workshops, interactive information panels, and guided meetings with biologists and naturalists.

Online booking is not required. However, please note that dogs are not allowed inside the park. A free kennel service is available, offering shaded single boxes with sand flooring, fresh water, and a lockable gate, available until full capacity.

How to Get There

By car from the A4 Venice–Trieste motorway, take the Latisana exit, continue for 18 km along SR354 toward Lignano, and follow the “Parco Zoo” signs for another 2.5 km toward Lignano Riviera.

By train, get off at Latisana Station, where a bus to Lignano departs. The nearest stop is “Chiaruttini”, from which you can take the urban Line A2 bus to the zoo’s parking area (active from June to mid-September). During summer, a bus service also connects Bibione with the zoo; the validated bus ticket entitles you to a €2 discount on admission (not cumulative).

Additional Services

The park is much more than a zoo — it offers a variety of services and amenities for all visitors. The on-site café, open daily, serves sandwiches, salads, pizza, ice cream, and snacks. The Zoovenir gift shop offers a range of souvenirs and themed items. Visitors can also enjoy spacious picnic and relaxation areas, toilets equipped for the disabled, baby changing stations, and two play areas for children.

For those arriving by car, there is a free, unsupervised parking area. It is also possible to rent strollers and wheelchairs on site.
