Serre Regional Nature Park: mountains, forests, and waterfalls

Autore: Redazione 21/08/2025 17:10

In northern Calabria lies a park that retains its primordial power, where the landscape changes with every step. This is the Serre Regional Nature Park, a vast protected area offering one of the most authentic and wild corners of the region, with imposing mountains, centuries-old forests, and crystal-clear waterways.

The imposing peaks of the Serre, with their summits exceeding 1,500 meters, offer breathtaking views of the valleys and, on clear days, even the coasts of the Tyrrhenian Sea and neighboring areas. The trails wind through the woods, from where it is easy to see the Marmarico waterfalls, not to be confused with those of Lopide, and the smaller waterways, which offer scenes of extraordinary beauty, perfect for those who love authentic hiking.

Like all Calabrian parks, this area is rich in terraces and valleys, having once been a land of shepherds and wayfarers. In fact, the ancient trails are still used today by shepherds and connect small clearings to panoramic areas. Visiting the Serre park means immersing yourself in an environment that speaks of variety.

Every step reveals a new face, as does every season, with wild flowers blooming in spring and the fresh air inviting long walks in summer. Winter transforms the Serre into an almost perfect, snow-covered landscape, like something out of a fairy tale.

Reaching the park is easy, as from Serra San Bruno, following the provincial roads, it is a short walk to the main entrances of the park, which are well marked by road signs.

It is therefore a place where you can rediscover the most authentic beauty of Calabria, almost hidden compared to the more famous coasts. The Serre Regional Nature Park is ideal for those seeking beauty, tranquility, and adventure.
