Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Natural Park

Autore: Redazione 01/08/2025 09:39

When it is said that music and nature are connected by a thread, it is said in an abstract way. But there is a park, the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park, in Trento, that makes this concept concrete. The Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park, in the heart of eastern Trentino, is a true wonder that unites Dolomite peaks and silence. The true heart of the park is the spruce trees, which rise in the Paneveggio Forest.

These are not just any trees: they are trees that yield wood of the highest quality, precious woods, selected by master violin makers such as Stradivari, used for centuries to create the world's most refined violins. Walking among these trees means breathing the air of something that goes beyond simple nature. It is the direct connection between music and greenery. The Pale di San Martino are a UNESCO heritage site and drop sheer, forming spectacular spires.

They are among the most scenic mountains in the Dolomites, as they descend steeply and are tinged with a bright pink at sunset, offering a breathtaking spectacle for those who look at the panorama. Furthermore, the paths are also very beautiful and offer amazing glimpses. The Marciò path is perfect for families and contains walkways suspended over the Travignolo stream, but also challenging climbs. It thus offers contrasting and diverse emotions.

Along the route of this path, one will encounter mountain huts (malghe), streams, and glacial lakes, creating a unique spectacle composed of many different aspects. Man has intervened little, but well. The stone and wooden malghe and refuges are built with great care, and there is a considerable presence of wild animals in the park.

It is easily accessible from San Martino di Castrozza and Predazzo and is a place that changes its appearance every season. In Trentino, there is no place that better tells the power, harmony, and poetry of the mountain, where music and nature come together to create something unique.
