Friulian Dolomites Natural Park: boundless wild beauty

Autore: Redazione 22/08/2025 20:39

Between the provinces of Pordenone and Udine, the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park encompasses hidden valleys. This place seems to belong to another era, a territory where nature reigns supreme, unspoiled and silent. It has been recognized by UNESCO as part of the Dolomites World Heritage Site.

Here you will find no roads or ski lifts, only a wild and authentic kingdom that can only be explored on foot. Walking through the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park, your eye will immediately be drawn to the colors. The light gray of the rock alternates with the intense green of the woods and the iridescent blue of the alpine skies.

The heart of the park is made up of rocky edges and Dolomite towers. The landscape alternates between deep gorges and grassy basins. The main symbol is Val Cimoliana, which is the privileged access point to the heart of the park. The pinnacles and spires stand out like natural sculptures, forming rocks that take on almost real shapes. The wild and mysterious Val Settimana is also not to be missed, while the Forra del Cellino is a spectacular canyon that once again demonstrates the millennial power of water.

Every step is an invitation to discovery, every path leads to views that convey a sense of infinite freedom. Like all the Dolomites, the wildlife does not disappoint. Among ibex, chamois, and roe deer, you can observe species that have always been seen in these types of landscapes, while golden eagles and bearded vultures fly in the skies.

Inside the park, there are also traces of human memory, despite their current state of ruin. Ancient mule tracks, ruins of mountain huts, and stone villages remain, telling a story of love and balance with man, made up of hard work and traditions. Today, visitors can sample dishes such as polenta and mountain cheeses.

Visiting the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park means rediscovering slowness, letting yourself be guided by the trails and immersing yourself in the purest nature, on a journey where nothing is imposed and everything is freedom.
