Pianpinedo Wildlife Park – the nature of the Friulian Dolomites

Autore: Redazione 26/08/2025 15:12

Located in the “Piana di Pinedo” between Cimolais and Claut, the Pianpinedo Wildlife Park covers 35 fenced hectares on the edge of the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park. Created to protect local fauna and offer an immersive experience in nature, it represents a perfect example of a preserved Alpine ecosystem.

Close encounters with Alpine wildlife

The park is home to species such as chamois, roe deer, marmots, red deer, ibex, and birds of prey like the golden eagle. The animals live in large areas that reproduce their natural habitats, allowing visitors to observe them without disrupting their behavior.

A sensory experience

The Pianpinedo Visitor Center features a themed route dedicated to the “senses of nature,” with rooms that recreate virtual forests and caves enhanced by sounds and scents. The site also includes the Cason dei Boscaioli, a faithful reconstruction of old lumberjack dwellings, and a restored historical lime kiln.

Opening hours and information

The park is open from April 13 to October 12, 2025, every Sunday, and daily from July 27 to August 31.

Tickets: €6 full price, €4 reduced, available at the Visitor Center ticket office.

A heritage to protect

Thanks to its environmental variety and minimal human presence, the park is a haven for rare species such as the peregrine falcon, eagle owl, rock ptarmigan, and western capercaillie. Some rugged areas remain completely untouched, serving as true natural sanctuaries.

Visiting the Pianpinedo Wildlife Park means discovering the most authentic side of the Friulian Dolomites, where every encounter with wildlife becomes a lesson in respect and wonder.
