Autore: Redazione 02/10/2025 10:25

History and description

Palazzo Bacaredda, located in the heart of Cagliari, is one of the city’s most representative historic buildings and an important example of eclectic architecture. Built between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the palace was originally the private residence of the Bacaredda family, one of the most influential families of Cagliari at the time, also active in the political and cultural life of Sardinia. The building stands out for its elegant façade decorated with Liberty and Neoclassical motifs, and it develops over several floors, with large windows, ornate balconies, and refined architectural details that give it a stately and monumental appearance. Inside, the palace still preserves many original elements, such as stuccoes, frescoes, and fine furnishings, which reflect the taste and style of Cagliari’s bourgeoisie at the end of the 19th century. Today, Palazzo Bacaredda houses the Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, a cultural center that promotes art and creativity, offering both temporary and permanent exhibitions of local, national, and international artists.
