Open Day at the Command Palace — 103rd Anniversary

When: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March 2026, 09:00–19:00 (last group departs at 18:30).

Where: Command Schools Palace of the Italian Air Force, Lungomare Nazario Sauro 39 — Bari. Free admission with mandatory registration.

To mark the 103rd anniversary of the Air Force, the historic palace will be open for guided tours led by Air Force personnel. The route is designed to present the building as a monumental asset, combining history, architecture and the site’s connection to the local area.

Highlights of the visit

• Exterior and architecture: a representative example of Bari’s rationalist architecture from the 1930s.
• Garden and mosaic: the notable “Wind Rose” mosaic within the grounds.
• Representative rooms: the Officers’ Club with period fittings and decoration.
• Historic offices: the Commander’s and Deputy Commander’s offices featuring 1930s painted panels.
• Exhibitions: a video‑photographic display of historical anecdotes and an aeromodelling exhibition organized by the local modelling club.

Tours are conducted in groups and are suitable for visitors interested in architecture, history or aeronautics.

Charity initiative

A fundraising activity will run during the event in collaboration with the local Air Force Association to support the purchase of medical equipment for pediatric wards, including the Giovanni XXIII Pediatric Hospital in Bari.

Booking and entry

Admission is free but prior registration is required. Please register by Thursday 26 March at 12:00 via the events section of the official Air Force website to receive a QR code, which must be presented (printed or digital) at the entrance.

Arriving early is recommended to facilitate security checks and group boarding.
