On the morning of 28 March 2026, the Palazzo San Giorgio Gallery hosted the event "A Tapestry for Peace", organised by Udi (Union of Italian Women) as part of the national network "10-100-1000 squares of women for peace". Due to bad weather the gathering moved indoors, attracting a notable turnout of pupils and local residents.
Students actively contributed to a collective tapestry, adding drawings, words and symbols. The individual panels stitched together formed a visual route reflecting multiple perspectives on peace — a participatory artwork that blends different languages and expressions.
The action is part of a broader national movement against war and rearmament policies, aimed at promoting a culture of disarmament and peaceful coexistence. The act of weaving was emphasised as a symbolic gesture of unity and care, countering destruction and division.
Organisers thanked those who provided logistical and artistic support and the schools that enabled active student participation.
The tapestry, still being completed, will be finalised in the coming weeks and combined with works from across Italy for a national gathering scheduled in Rome in June. The initiative will also be repeated locally to broaden community involvement.
