European Night of Museums 2026: Libarna and Piedmont's Royal Residences open at night

On Saturday 23 May 2026 Piedmont joins the European Night of Museums with special evening openings and initiatives aimed at promoting archaeological areas and historic sites. The archaeological site of Libarna stands out for a programme focused on families and hands-on discovery of archaeology.

  • Libarna (archaeological site): from 17:30 to 21:30 (last entry 20:30) workshops and activities for children and families under the "Archeogiochiamo a Libarna" banner; themed sessions such as "On the thread of wool" exploring Roman wool techniques and symbols with reenactors, and educational trails organised by the Appennino Piemontese Protected Areas. Admission to the archaeological area is free.
  • Castello di Agliè: activities exploring the relationship between nature and heritage, a themed visit at 18:30 and an evening exhibition route open from 19:30 to 23:30, symbolic entry €1.
  • Castello di Racconigi: guided evening tours through the historic apartments at 19:15, 20:00, 20:45 and 21:30, entrance €1.
  • Other venues (Moncalieri, Palazzo Carignano, etc.): evening openings and guided visits with varying fees and schedules; several participating sites apply a symbolic €1 admission for the night.

The European Night of Museums aims to make cultural heritage more accessible and encourage participatory experiences: visits, workshops and themed routes allow visitors to explore archaeology and local history in an engaging way at unusual evening hours.

Practical tips: arrive early for popular workshops, check if guided visits require reservation and verify ticketing and last-entry times for each site.
