Antonio Biasiucci's 'Archetypes' at the Royal Palace of Caserta

Dates: open to the public from 31 May to 30 November 2026. Official inauguration on 30 May 2026.

The Royal Palace of Caserta presents 'Archetypes', a major exhibition by Antonio Biasiucci curated by Tiziana Maffei with organization by Valeria Di Fratta and Paola Servillo. Installed in the Grand Gallery, the show gathers roughly 300 photographs and installations that explore the relationships between people, nature and memory.

  • Venue: Grand Gallery, Royal Palace of Caserta
  • Works: about 300 images and installations, including single photographs, polyptychs and site-specific devices
  • Main themes: bread, milk, volcanoes, rites, faith, silk work and collective memory
  • Partners: produced by the Royal Palace of Caserta in collaboration with Gallerie d'Italia – Intesa Sanpaolo and Opera Laboratori
  • Sponsors: Fondazione Orizzonti and Totem Digitali srl

Biasiucci's display reworks concrete elements of local culture into universal symbols: bread, mozzarella, animal bodies and volcanic landscapes become archetypes that transcend regional context. His method pares subjects to their essence to reveal a cross-cultural expressive core.

The itinerary begins in the Palatine Chapel with 27 ex-votos that set an enigmatic tone and continues through 24 thematic sections featuring immersive installations such as 'Corpo latteo' and site-specific pieces like 'Molti', inspired by facial casts preserved at the Museum of Anthropology in Naples. Two monoliths in the Grand Gallery, annotated with numbers by Mimmo Paladino, address migration and the erasure of identity.

A dedicated segment marks the 250th anniversary of the San Leucio colony: looms, gears and spools are shown as narrative traces of silk production and the work of local women.

Practical info: the exhibition runs in the Grand Gallery of the Royal Palace of Caserta from 31 May to 30 November 2026. For opening hours and ticket information, consult the palace's official channels.
