In the wild heart of the Dolomites: it is the Dolomites Bellunesi National Park

Autore: Redazione 01/08/2025 09:50

In Veneto, there is a corner where nature still dictates the law, where the mountains seem sculpted by light and torrents cut through deep gorges. It is the Dolomites Bellunesi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the province of Belluno, which extends for over 30,000 hectares.

Here you will find no ski resorts or glamorous resorts, but only pristine nature. It is one of the wildest and least anthropized corners of the Dolomites, and the landscape here is a pure spectacle. The Vette Feltrine, the Monti del Sole, the Schiara, and the Cimonega group are names less known than the more touristy Dolomites.

Yet they form deep canyons, jagged rocks, and create a landscape more surprising than usual. This park is considered a true botanical treasure chest, hosting over 1,400 plant species. In fact, in spring and summer, the park transforms into a palette of colors. The experiences are manifold, including explorations to the Mis gorges, the Soffia waterfalls, Val Canzoi, or even trekking when climbing the Alta Via number two which crosses the park from south to north.

The park also preserves traces of very ancient human presence; in fact, there are also remains of mines and millennia-old paths, and malghe (alpine dairies), all immersed in a delicate balance between man and environment. This park is perfect for lovers of hiking and nature photography; here the mountain shows its truest soul, but who is ready to truly look at it?
