Museums: high attendance during holiday weekends

From the weekend of April 25 through the May Day holiday (May 1–3), state-run museums, archaeological parks and cultural sites across Italy recorded a total attendance approaching 1.4 million visitors. Extended holiday weekends continue to be important opportunities for public access to cultural heritage.

  • April 25: 320,879 entries
  • May 1: 249,431 entries
  • May 3 (Sunday at the museum): 372,790 entries
  • Total April 25–26: 542,986 visitors
  • Total May 1–3: 870,241 visitors
  • Overall total: approximately 1,400,000 entries

The figures highlight public interest in special openings and nationwide initiatives. Below are some of the state sites with the highest attendance during the reported days:

  • Colosseum Archaeological Park – Flavian Amphitheatre: 46,598 (Apr 25); 79,245 (May 1)
  • Colosseum Archaeological Park – Roman Forum and Palatine: 37,707 (Apr 25); 63,823 (May 1)
  • Pompeii Archaeological Park: 29,185 (Apr 25); 54,172 (May 1)
  • Pantheon: 26,363 (Apr 25); 41,044 (May 1)
  • Uffizi Galleries: 23,586 (Apr 25); 38,556 (May 1)
  • Royal Palace of Caserta: 26,552 (Apr 25); 37,334 (May 1)
