Italia loves UNESCO: evening event at Verona Arena on June 5

Date & time: 5 June 2026, live broadcast at 21:15 on Rai 1. The production highlights Italy's UNESCO-recognized heritage, focusing on opera, cuisine and traditional song.

With 61 World Heritage sites, Italy showcases its cultural richness through a large-scale televised event. Produced by the Fondazione Arena di Verona with support from the Ministry of Culture and other ministries, the evening blends musical, theatrical and performative elements to illustrate the value of Italy's tangible and intangible heritage.

What to expect

  • Two main stages: the Amphitheatre will host an extensive operatic program with orchestra and chorus; Piazza Bra will feature a live, theatrical tribute to Italian cuisine, depicting the preparation of a communal dinner.
  • Artists and guests: leading opera singers alongside pop and rock performers. Confirmed appearances include internationally renowned vocalists and a special performance from the rock world in a symphonic arrangement.
  • Scale: roughly 500 performers on stage, with Piazza Bra involving up to one thousand participants in a collective celebration.
  • Official representation: the evening will host government ministers and around 100 UNESCO delegates from abroad.

The program also spotlights traditions recently recognized at UNESCO level, such as operatic singing and Italian cuisine, and launches the official bid for the classic Neapolitan song to become a World Heritage element.

Practical info: the show airs live on Rai 1 at 21:15. For ticketing, attendance rules or on-demand broadcasts, check the official channels of Fondazione Arena and Rai for updated information.
