Capitoline Museums: key visitor information 2026

Opening hours and closures
- Regular hours: daily 9:30–19:30; last admission 18:30.
- 24 and 31 December: reduced hours 9:30–14:00.
- 1 January: special hours 11:00–20:00.
- Closed: 1 May and 25 December.

Free entry and concessions
- Residents of Rome and the Metropolitan City: free admission to the permanent collection on presentation of an ID card (effective from February 2026). Free admission does not cover temporary exhibitions with separate tickets.

- With Vasari and Rome exhibition (until 12 May 2026): full €19.50 – reduced €14.00.
- Combined ticket (Capitoline Museums + Vasari + The Greece in Rome): full €22.50 – reduced €18.50 (when exhibitions are active).
- Capitoline Card (7 days, includes Centrale Montemartini): full €15.50 – reduced €11.50. Note: additional charges may apply at the desk for separately ticketed exhibitions (e.g. €4.50 supplement for the Vasari show during the indicated period).
- Reductions: for ages 6–25, permanent state school teachers, Bibliocard holders, ATAC/Metrebus season-ticket holders and RomaPass holders according to conditions.
- Wednesdays (last 2 hours): 50% reduction for non-residents during the final two hours of opening, when applicable.
Tickets and booking
- Online: buy on the official site museicapitolini.org; a €1.00 advance fee may apply. Tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable.
- Call center: 060608 (daily 9:00–19:00) with the same €1.00 booking fee.
- On-site ticket office: same-day purchases accepted in cash or card; advance purchases for later days may require card payment.
- Groups: groups of 11–25 people must book via 060608 (free reservation) and pre-purchase at least 5 tickets.
How to get there
- Address: Piazza del Campidoglio 1, Rome (Capitoline Hill).
- Bus: lines 40, 64, 170, H, 780, 781 – stop at Piazza Venezia, a short walk away.
- Metro: Line B to Colosseo, then about a 10-minute walk.
- Tram: Line 8 to Piazza Venezia.
- Car: no dedicated museum parking; use public car parks and public transport where possible.
