Monte Miletto: the wild peak of Molise

Autore: Redazione 26/08/2025 15:09

In the Matese National Park stands the highest peak in Molise, reaching about 2,050 meters of pure adrenaline. We are talking about Monte Miletto, a mountain that offers alpine landscapes and an authentic experience for trekking enthusiasts in Central Italy.

From its summit, the panorama sweeps from the Apennine mountain ranges to views of Molise, Campania, and Abruzzo. Several glacial lakes and alpine meadows, born from the mountain, are clearly visible from the top.

Furthermore, it offers the unspoiled nature of a biodiversity paradise. You'll find mountain flora like gentians and edelweiss, as well as Golden Eagles and Chamois. Biodiversity lovers will find an immersive experience where nature remains truly wild.

The trails leading to the peak are accessible from San Massimo and Campitello Matese and are ideal for experienced hikers. The routes are of medium-to-high difficulty and offer gratifying challenges, but they are not for everyone. Be warned: although it is a haven of peace, far from chaos and mass tourism, tackling the trails won't be simple—it is, after all, a mountain.

If you want to experience a truly deep connection with nature, visiting this mountain means discovering the wildest side of Molise.
