In the Tammaro Valley, a green jewel is hidden: a forest of centuries-old holm oaks (leccete) that stretches for over 100 hectares. We are talking about the WWF Lecceta di Sepino Oriented Nature Reserve in Molise, which offers a total immersion in primordial nature.
The Lecceta di Sepino is absolutely worth a visit for nature lovers. Primarily, it is an oasis of biodiversity. The reserve protects a lush Mediterranean scrubland and is a refuge for many species, such as foxes, wild boars, and especially the Red Kite.
Fauna enthusiasts will find a vibrant ecosystem that meets the needs of those seeking this during their visits to the woods. Furthermore, the trails are a true passage through history. In fact, the WWF Lecceta di Sepino Oriented Nature Reserve is close to the ancient city of Saepinum, which still perfectly preserves its archaeological remains. The park's paths are perfectly intertwined with the historical nature of the area, combining trekking with cultural discovery.
As mentioned, trekking is a fundamental element of the reserve, and the trails are suitable for everyone, from experienced hikers to families looking for relaxation. There are many rest areas that invite relaxing breaks after a long walk.
The reserve is a corner far from the chaos, where silence reigns supreme and where you can regenerate and recharge your batteries for the year ahead. In fact, we recommend visiting it especially in the summer, when the coolness will help you completely refresh.
