Langhe, Roero and Monferrato: over 60 villages become an open-air

Autore: Redazione 07/05/2026 19:12

Langhe, Roero and Monferrato: art within village life (May–November 2026)

Period: May–November 2026. Area: over 60 municipalities in the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato hills (Piedmont).

A territory-wide initiative places contemporary artworks, site-specific interventions and artist residencies in village centres and historic sites. Both permanent and temporary pieces engage with architecture, underground spaces like cellars, and the surrounding rural scenery, offering distributed cultural routes.

What to expect

  • Site-specific works in villages such as Resté (Diano d’Alba, Montelupo Albese, Rodello, Cerretto Langhe), Roddino, Neviglie, Govone and Canelli.
  • Exhibitions across public and subterranean spaces, including historic wine cellars.
  • Artist residencies culminating in public presentations; some of these events take place on specific days in May.
  • Projects addressing sustainability, landscape protection and community involvement.

Why visit

The programme is an opportunity to discover lesser-known villages and to interpret the area through contemporary art: works are designed to interact with the cultural landscape and to involve local communities in participatory activities.

Practical tips

  • Plan your travel: exhibition sites are spread across several municipalities. Consider renting a car or check local transport connections.
  • Verify event dates: some activities and residency presentations have fixed dates and are concentrated in particular weekends (notably mid-May).
  • Join guided tours and artist talks to gain deeper insight into the works and their relation to the territory.
  • Respect the local context: many installations are placed in everyday community spaces and delicate historic settings.

Where to start

Sites are located in more than 60 municipalities across the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato hills. Check recommended routes and points of interest in advance to make the most of your visit.
