"Transforming Energy" brings Marina Abramović's performance art into direct conversation with the Renaissance collection of the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice. Curated by Shai Baitel in collaboration with the artist, the exhibition marks a milestone for the museum by integrating contemporary performance within the historic galleries.

The itinerary blends historical pieces with newly commissioned works and installations. Several exhibited objects — the so-called Transitory Objects — are designed to be activated by visitors, enabling an experiential transmission of energy that underpins Abramović's practice.

The selection includes seminal works from Abramović's career — from Imponderabilia and Rhythm 0 to recent productions — and employs materials such as quartz and amethyst that echo Venice's decorative traditions. A central installation places Abramović's Pietà (with Ulay) alongside Tiziano's Pietà, reframing Renaissance themes of suffering and redemption through contemporary performance.
