Cimitero Monumentale del Verano: free guided tours and bicycle routes

The Cimitero Monumentale del Verano in Rome opens as an open-air museum with a programme of free guided visits and, for the first time this year, bicycle routes across the site. Sessions take place on weekends in May and include an additional date on 2 June 2026.

  • When: from 9 May to 31 May 2026, plus 2 June 2026.
  • Typical hours: tours run between 9:30 and 15:00 on weekends.
  • Length: about 2 hours per visit.
  • Number of visits: 43 scheduled events, all free of charge.
  • Booking: required and subject to availability.
  • Accessibility: some barrier-free routes available; selected visits include LIS (Italian Sign Language) interpretation provided by the Ente Nazionale Sordi Roma.

What the tours cover

Programs include historical routes exploring moments of Italian unification and the First World War, literary itineraries focused on major cultural figures, artistic trails highlighting funerary sculpture and painting, and music and cinema themed tours. New bike tours allow participants to cover more of the Verano’s roughly 80 hectares.
