Langhe and Roero: magical hills between vineyards, villages, and natural wonders

Autore: Redazione 01/08/2025 09:14

In Piedmont, there is a UNESCO World Heritage site that few people know about. Between Cuneo and Asti, in Southern Piedmont, wind the sculpted hills of the Langhe and Roero, a mosaic of orderly vineyards, medieval castles, and small villages suspended in time, which remain there ready to enchant like a postcard.

The landscape, in places like these, is not only to be admired but to be lived. It is possible to traverse it, breathing in every moment of the greenery that surrounds the trails. In every curve of the road, there is a new wonder. La Morra, Barolo, Neive, and Serralunga d'Alba are the most fascinating destinations. They are embedded villages, with ancient towers and artisan wine shops, and strolling through them means getting lost among various scents and beauties.

The Roero, however, which is located on the left bank of the Tanaro river, offers wilder landscapes, such as the Rocche del Roero, which is a system of sand and tuff canyons. There are not only vineyards, but also hazelnut groves and pastures. The Alta Langa, in fact, is the place where the nocciola tonda gentile (gentle round hazelnut), which is among the best in the world, is produced.

Although white truffle is also widely cultivated, especially in Alba, the charm of the Langhe and Roero goes beyond cuisine. They are perfect for those seeking nature and beauty, where the peaks touch the soul. They are perfect for those seeking nature and beauty, where the peaks are drawn in lines that seem to touch the sky.
