Lago del Mis: emerald waters amidst hidden waterfalls and canyons

Autore: Redazione 01/08/2025 09:49

Intense colors, emerald green reflections, and absolute silence. We are not talking about just any place, but Lago del Mis, hidden among the mountains of the Dolomites Bellunesi National Park.

It is a small, wild, and little-known jewel. Its waters are often a vibrant emerald green, creating an almost alpine setting, and along its shores, you can walk on easy, flat trails, ideal for families or the less experienced.

There are many places of interest. The sounds of water strongly hitting the stones are evident when you walk along the Soffia waterfall, hidden among the rocks and accessible with a short walk. Not far away is also Val Facina, a natural canyon shaped by water, where you encounter small wooden bridges and tiny streams ideal for a photo that offers wonderful glimpses.

This lake was used in the 1960s as a hydroelectric power plant, but over time it has managed to reclaim its natural space and has succeeded in recreating its ecosystem rich in fauna and flora.

Today, trout and perch live in its waters, and falcons and buzzards fly in the sky. It is therefore ideal for families who can also enjoy picnic areas, spend different days with guaranteed relaxation in a small corner of paradise among the peaks of the Dolomites.
