My Life Is a Zoo: The Fairytale Comes to Life in San Pietro a Maida

Autore: Redazione 29/08/2025 17:58

There’s a place in Calabria where nature and animals become the protagonists of a real-life fairytale: the wildlife park “My Life Is a Zoo – The Fairytale Is Us” in San Pietro a Maida, in the province of Catanzaro.

The project was born from a desire to educate and raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and animals, with a strong focus on the idea of community. The “us” in the title refers not only to the visitors but also — and above all — to the animals, the true hosts of the park.

Spread across four hectares of lush nature, the park is home to species from all over the world: zebras, meerkats, kangaroos, lionesses, Bengal tigers, albino dromedaries, and the park’s undisputed star — Zeus, the white lion, who has become a social media sensation with millions of views. Every animal lives in a respectful environment, cared for by a qualified team that ensures their health and well-being.

But the park is more than just observation — it’s about interaction. Guided tours, training demonstrations, and educational sessions allow visitors of all ages to connect with the animals, learning to understand and respect them. Picnic areas, inflatable games, and shows make the experience even more family-friendly and fun.

Hours and Prices

The park is open Monday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

On weekdays, shows start at 5:00 p.m., while on weekends and holidays, visitors can join free guided tours beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Tickets cost €9 for children aged 2 to 14 and €14 for adults.

Ultimately, the park’s mission is clear: to offer visitors a real-life fairytale, surrounded by nature and its magnificent creatures. It’s a one-of-a-kind project in Calabria that combines entertainment, education, and environmental awareness — while celebrating the beauty of the local area.
