The Museo d'Arte Orientale in Venice presents Keita Miyazaki's solo exhibition From Water To Form, a site-specific project that responds to the museum's permanent collection and to the city itself. The show centers on water as a generative principle and transformative force that erodes, renews and inscribes memory into material.
Curated by Pier Paolo Scelsi, Ilaria Cera and Riccardo Freddo, with scientific direction by Elisabetta Barisoni, Marta Boscolo Marchi, Daniele Ferrara and Stefania Portinari, the exhibition brings Miyazaki's contemporary practice into dialogue with Japanese craft traditions and historical artifacts.
The exhibition extends beyond the museum with a public art intervention on the island of Giudecca at CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo: a modular sculpture conceived for Venice that reflects Miyazaki's longstanding exploration of modularity, form and spatial relationships. This public work highlights the continuity between artistic practice and traditional craftsmanship.
Practical note for visitors: the show frames a conversation between Edo-period Japanese art and contemporary expression through worked materials and ritualized making. For information and contacts: [email protected].
