Italian Port Days 2026: Ports Open Their Gates to Communities

Launched on the National Sea Day, the Italian Port Days 2026 program is promoted by the Port System Authorities to strengthen ties between ports, territories and citizens. The edition unfolds in two phases: a spring session through May and a second wave in September–October.

The 2026 theme, "Italy, Gateway to the Mediterranean: Dialogues between Harbours and Cities", highlights ports as more than logistics hubs — they are economic, cultural and social anchors embedded in urban life. Port authorities will host activities aimed at schools, businesses and the general public to bring people closer to port realities.

  • Guided tours and special openings of port areas;
  • Public events on sustainability, innovation and employment;
  • School meetings, youth workshops and participatory initiatives;
  • Sporting and experiential formats for wider audiences;
  • Local flagship events, such as De Portibus in Ravenna (21–23 May), integrated into the national calendar.

The initiative aims to make ports more accessible and readable to local communities, showcasing their role in employment, maritime culture and regional competitiveness. Italian Port Days 2026 intends to turn port areas into spaces of dialogue and civic participation, enhancing public awareness of their strategic value.
