Scarperia Flower Carpet 2026: Collodi's Pinocchio in the historic village

On Sunday, 24 May 2026 Scarperia will be covered in petals for the 45th Flower Carpet. From 10:00 to 22:00 the historic centre will host a long floral carpet crafted by schools, associations, traders and residents. The 2026 edition honors the bicentenary of Carlo Collodi and features floral panels representing characters and scenes from The Adventures of Pinocchio.

Alongside the Flower Carpet there are exhibitions, theatrical performances and hands-on activities designed for visitors of all ages.

Main events

• Exhibition "Vices and virtues in Pinocchio's animals" — 16-25 May 2026 at Palazzo dei Vicari (opening hours: 10:00-13:00 and 14:30-18:30; admission according to museum rates).
• Theatre show "Il racconto di Clap Mugello" — Friday 22 May 2026, 17:30 (free entry with reservation at Pro Loco Scarperia, tel. 055 8468165).
• Flower Carpet — Sunday 24 May 2026, 10:00-22:00: Via Roma, Piazza dei Vicari and Piazza Clasio transformed into floral displays.
• Puppet show by class 2L of Luco primary school — Sunday 24 May, 11:00 in the atrium of Palazzo dei Vicari (free entry).
• Creative workshop "Once upon a piece of wood, Pinocchio and his characters" — Sunday 24 May, 17:00 (free, reservation recommended).

Practical information

The local museums (Palazzo dei Vicari and the Museum of Cutting Tools) will be open 10:00-13:00 and 14:30-18:30. Entry to the historic centre and the Flower Carpet is free; museum admission is charged, with free entry for residents of Scarperia and San Piero. The event will take place even in case of bad weather.
