Sulla soglia: multimedia and live installation in Matera
"Sulla soglia" is a sensory and performative route developed within an interdisciplinary workshop at the Conservatory of Music "E.R. Duni" as part of the PNRR D.I.A.R.Y. program. The project foregrounds papier-mâché as a material language and pairs it with video and electronic composition to form a symbolic landscape inspired by the local calcarenite.
Program and contributors
- Opening: Friday 15 May, 6:00 PM, Sala degli Scacchi — electronic performance with double bass curated by Grace Troilo.
- Second installation: "Paesaggio relitto" in the Library Hall, featuring a performance by the Conservatory E.R. Duni Jazz Ensemble.
- Visual and sculptural works: video pieces by Davide Masciandaro; sculptures by Suzana Henriqueta Alves da Silva in collaboration with master papier-mâché artist Raffaele Pentasuglia.
- Sound research: sound design and compositions developed by multiple composers and conservatory students.
Why visit
The project connects Mediterranean craft traditions with contemporary multimedia techniques to offer a fresh interpretation of material memory and local identity. The interplay of sculpture, projection and electronic composition produces an immersive environment that encourages reflection on materiality, time and the sacred.
