In Basilicata launches 'A School for the Environment': robotics and the 5Rs in Tempa Rossa schools

WESE - WE Smart Engineering has launched the educational initiative "A School for the Environment. Robotics supporting environmental education", engaging schools in the Tempa Rossa area. Supported by TotalEnergies E&P S.p.A. and the Tempa Rossa JV partners, the project promotes sustainable waste management and skills for the ecological transition.

• Goals: promote the 5Rs of the circular economy (Reduce, Reuse, Collection, Recycle, Recovery) through innovative, technology‑based approaches.
• Educational tools: workshops featuring the RoBidone robot, reading of the comic "Let me tell you a story. A journey with Mago Riciclo," and field trips.
• Schools involved: Istituto comprensivo "Castronuovo", Istituto omnicomprensivo "Stigliano" and I.S.S. Carlo Levi of Corleto Perticara; activities have taken place in Guardia Perticara, Corleto Perticara, Missanello, Armento, Aliano and Accettura.
• Organisers: WESE (a Basilicata‑based start‑up specialising in waste management, founded by Anna Merlino) with the patronage of the Municipality of Guardia Perticara.

WESE's founder highlights that the initiative aims to equip students with practical tools and knowledge to adopt responsible waste management habits, introducing technological innovation into classrooms as an educational resource.

The programme, designed for pupils of all ages, will culminate in hands‑on field activities to reinforce classroom learning and observe circular economy practices in situ.
