Laviano Tibetan Bridge: adrenaline suspended in the void

Autore: Redazione 01/08/2025 08:19

There is a place where the wind snakes through steel cables suspended in mid-air. Right in the heart of Irpinia, the Laviano Tibetan Bridge stretches out, one of the most incredible attractions in Campania. It’s an experience suspended between sky and earth… with a thrill spanning 90 meters.

In 1980, Laviano was at risk of disappearing after the earthquake that hit Campania and shook the entire area. Since then, it has become a symbol of rebirth. The suspension bridge was built out of the need to reconnect, linking the two banks of the Sele River and boosting tourism.

The bridge is about 90 meters long and over 80 meters high. This is definitely not an experience for those afraid of heights: its light structure, made of wooden planks and steel cables, moves slightly when walking on it, offering a mix of adrenaline and a touch of fear. Every step is accompanied by the sound of the wooden boards under your shoes, while the surrounding landscape is breathtaking and spectacular.

If you dare to look beneath your feet, you can see the Sele River flowing through green gorges and small waterfalls. The entire area is immersed in the tranquility of the Campanian Apennines. The bridge is part of a longer route that includes picnic areas, hiking trails, and a scenic viewpoint, perfect for an unusual day trip.

Laviano can be reached by car from Naples: take the A30 to Contursi Terme and then continue along the panoramic roads. Access is free, but voluntary donations are welcome.
