A colorfully painted piano by Florence-based artist Skim has been donated and placed in the entrance of the Meyer Children's Hospital. The piece combines visual motifs and sound to provide an artistic welcome for young patients and their families.
The piano's surface is decorated with the vivid colors and graphic elements typical of the artist: small paper boats, letters, brushes and pencils appear across the instrument, turning it into a multifunctional installation—both visual and musical. During the original exhibition the instrument was playable by visitors, fostering direct interaction between the public and the artwork.
Both the artist and the curator emphasize that the donation aims to continue the spirit of participation experienced during the show: art becomes an emotional welcome, a first "embrace" for those entering the hospital.
Visiting information: the piano is located in the Meyer hospital entrance. Visitors can view the work during hospital visiting hours. The installation is intended to create a calmer atmosphere and encourage moments of listening and musical play for children.
