The Poppi Zoo Park – a journey through European wildlife

Autore: Redazione 31/08/2025 14:38

In the Casentino hills, in the province of Arezzo, lies the European Wildlife Zoo Park of Poppi. Founded with the goal of promoting awareness of Europe’s rich fauna, it is home to over 50 species of animals living in large, natural enclosures designed to recreate their original habitats.

Walking along the trails, visitors encounter the park’s most fascinating residents: brown bears, lynxes, wolves, roe deer, eagle owls, and various birds of prey. The animals can be observed up close, always with respect for their space and natural behavior.

For children, direct contact with animals becomes a unique and engaging learning experience — one of the park’s core educational missions.

Opening hours and prices

The park is open every day of the year, from January 1 to December 31 (including holidays), with continuous hours from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

On weekdays in autumn and winter (including Christmas and New Year’s Day, but excluding other holidays), it is open from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

Ticket prices:

  • Adults: €8
  • Reduced (ages 2–10): €6.50
  • Groups (adults and children): €5.50 per person (1 free ticket every 15)
  • Annual pass (adult): €50
  • Annual pass (reduced): €30

Services

To make visitors’ experience as relaxing as possible, the Poppi Zoo Park offers picnic areas, a restaurant, a bar, a playground, and even a small train that takes guests along the main trail.

Education and awareness

As mentioned, the zoo also plays a vital role in environmental education and wildlife conservation. It organizes workshops, guided tours, and educational activities to promote understanding of Europe’s biodiversity and the importance of protecting it.

A gem of the Casentino Valley

Located in one of Tuscany’s most beautiful natural areas, the Poppi Zoo Park is an ideal destination for those wishing to explore Casentino while combining tourism, nature, and culture. It’s a place where learning and fun go hand in hand — perfect for a day out with the whole family.
