Táifinakpo’ marks the first solo exhibition in Italy by American artist Gisela McDaniel, opening on April 9, 2026 at Galleria Poggiali in Milan. Rooted in Choctaw heritage, McDaniel’s practice blends audio interviews with oil portraits and assemblage: the sitters—primarily women and non-binary people identifying as Micronesian, Indigenous of Turtle Island, Asian, Latina, or multiracial—are given active presence, challenging traditional power dynamics between artist and subject.
