Spring is a great season to explore Lake Garda's historic villages: milder weather, blooming nature and fewer visitors than in summer. Below are five villages worth including in a relaxed spring itinerary.
Sirmione sits on a narrow peninsula and is fully pedestrian, making it easy to visit in a few hours. Its landmark is the Scaligero Castle, whose walls offer striking lake views. Nearby lie the Grotte di Catullo, an important Roman archaeological site.
On the eastern shore, Malcesine combines lake scenery and mountain access: the Scaligero Castle dominates the town and the cable car to Monte Baldo provides spectacular views when weather permits.
Known for its vertical layout between the lake and the mountain, Limone is famous for historic lemon houses and a suspended cycle-pedestrian route that frames unforgettable lake views.
Salò is an elegant town with a long, well-kept lakeside promenade—perfect for extended strolls. The center hosts shops, cafés and the MuSa, with exhibitions and historical collections.
Lazise preserves its medieval walls and monumental gates that enclose the historic center. The old harbor and lakeside invite relaxed walks, while nearby Colà Thermal Park provides year-round wellness options.
