FAI Spring Days in Palermo

On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2026 the FAI Spring Days return, a nationwide event dedicated to discovering and promoting cultural and monumental heritage. In Palermo and the surrounding area several historic sites will open their doors, many of them not usually fully accessible.

Main openings and visits

Highlights include Porta Nuova and the Royal Stables (Real Scuderia) of Palazzo dei Normanni. At Porta Nuova visitors can reach the terraces for wide views over the city and visit the Garibaldi Hall with its rich decorations. Visual materials will illustrate the seventeenth-century wooden structure of the spire and lantern.

  • Porta Nuova: panoramic terraces, Garibaldi Hall, and exhibits explaining the wooden architectural elements.
  • Vittoria Alata: presentation of the restored sculpture along the route.
  • Royal Stables: guided visit through historic stables and associated spaces.

Accessibility and inclusive services

To make the visits usable by a broad public, the programme includes accessible visit formats, a virtual tour for people with reduced mobility, tactile models and materials for blind and partially sighted visitors, plus activities for children. These measures were developed in collaboration with local institutions and specialist associations.

Practical information

  • Dates: 21–22 March 2026
  • Opening hours: 09:00–18:30 (last admission 17:30)
  • Contribution: entry supported by donations to the Foundation; check the FAI website for details and participation rules
  • Participation: some openings are reserved for members or have special access rules; check availability and booking instructions online

The FAI Spring Days also serve to raise awareness and funds for restoration and conservation projects. To plan your visit, consult the local programme and arrive in good time to facilitate entry.
