FAI Spring Days: special openings at Ravenna's monuments
This weekend the FAI Spring Days provide an opportunity to visit historic palaces, churches and museums in the Ravenna province. The local FAI delegation, together with the National Museums of Ravenna, is also promoting the "Teodorico Project", offering guided tours, talks and initiatives focused on sites linked to the Ostrogothic king.
- Palace of Theodoric and palace-area mosaics: a rare chance to explore one of Ravenna's most intriguing monuments. Guided tours will be led by trainee guides from local schools and include access to the interior and the upper floor via the spiral staircase. Times: Saturday 15:00-17:30; Sunday 10:00-12:00 and 15:00-17:30.
- Basilica of San Giovanni e Paolo (Church of the Guardian Angels): a baroque-restored church linked to the historic centre and close to the Domus of the Stone Carpets archaeological site. Times: Saturday 10:00-12:00 and 15:30-17:30 (15:30 visit in Polish); Sunday 11:30-17:30 (11:30 visit in Ukrainian).
- Cervia‑Pisignano Airport: an introductory briefing on the Wing’s duties, displays featuring night-vision scenarios, meteorology, firefighting activities, service and surveillance operations, plus presentations of helicopters and rescue equipment. Visit only on Sunday 9:30-16:00. Online reservation required.
- The Rocca, Civic Museum and Church of San Francesco: the Rocca houses Risorgimento collections, Roman villa finds and local exhibits, while the seventeenth-century church holds tombs and paintings. Times: Sunday 10:00-12:00 and 14:30-17:00.
- Gatti Ceramic Museum (Faenza): housed in the historic manufactory founded by Riccardo Gatti, featuring a permanent collection of rare pieces. Open Saturday 10:00-12:00 and 14:30-17:30.
- Carlo Zauli Museum (Faenza): located in the artist’s former workshop; open Saturday and Sunday 10:00-12:00 and 14:30-17:30.
- Guerrino Tramonti Museum (Faenza): the artist’s home and studio exhibiting works created during his career; open Saturday and Sunday 10:00-12:00 and 14:30-17:30.
- Archaeological repository of Lugo: a deposit of finds from the Neolithic to the modern age documenting continuous habitation in the area. Times: Saturday 14:30-17:30; Sunday 9:30-12:30 and 14:30-17:30.
