Gibellina has become a key destination for contemporary art: rebuilt after the 1968 earthquake, the town has forged a distinct identity through interventions by artists and architects that have turned its landscape into an open-air museum.
At the Ludovico Corrao Museum of Contemporary Art a curated selection from Francesco Galvagno’s private collection is on view. The exhibition showcases works produced over the last twenty-five years by established and emerging Sicilian artists, offering insight into the recent local art scene.
Plan your visit to the MAC as part of a cultural route through western Sicily: notable contemporary art foundations and exhibition spaces in Catania and Palermo complement a trip to Gibellina. For local flavor, stop at historic pastry shops and restaurants that blend tradition with innovation.
The selection aims to juxtapose different generations: alongside well-known names of the Palermo School, emerging artists demonstrate the dynamism of the regional art scene.
Note: the exhibition and related programs are part of the initiatives linked to Gibellina as Italy’s 2026 capital of contemporary art.
