Sara Melis presents a solo exhibition that uses raw earth collected from Langhe vineyards as its central material. Works emerge from the soil’s physical behaviour: cracks, contractions and stratifications are preserved as direct traces of the drying process, turning canvas into a record of material transformation.
The Terroir project involves thirteen wineries that contributed soil samples, shifting the land’s role from productive resource to independent artistic language. The artist’s minimal, intentional gestures negotiate form alongside the behaviour of the substrate.
This exhibition is recommended for those interested in contemporary practices that prioritise local materials and natural processes. The works do not simply depict landscape: they incorporate it, offering a tactile and conceptual experience of the vineyard terrain.
