On Saturday 11 April 2026 at 16:00, the Museo Civico of Casale Monferrato holds the second guided tour of the exhibition installed in the Salone Vitoli. The event is organised in collaboration with the city, the local Rotary Club and the De Ferrari Foundation, with support from several local foundations and companies.
The exhibition traces how the image of the national hero developed from the early years of unified Italy through the immediate post-war period, highlighting a move toward a more rhetorical, classically inspired style exemplified by sculptors such as Eugenio Baroni. Works by Bistolfi are set in dialogue with pieces by Gaetano Previati, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Plinio Nomellini, Libero Andreotti and Eliseo Sala, among others.
The display includes an important selection of Bistolfi works from the “Martelli-Bistolfi 2021/2023” donation, partly restored and previously unpublished, alongside loans from museums, public institutions and private collectors. The guided tour will provide historical and stylistic context to the sculptural and pictorial works on show.
