Vietri sul Mare is one of the most picturesque villages on the Amalfi Coast, renowned for its handcrafted ceramics and brightly colored houses overlooking the sea. Spring offers mild weather, fewer crowds and ideal conditions for walking and photography.
The historic center is a maze of charming alleys with ceramic workshops, artisan studios and traditional shops. Majolica tiles and decorative ceramics adorn facades and streets, reflecting the village’s longstanding artisanal tradition.
Just a short walk from the center is Marina di Vietri, at beach level. Besides sea views, you’ll find seafood restaurants, cafes and coastal stretches perfect for a spring stroll.
The Villa Comunale provides one of the most poetic views of the Gulf of Salerno and features ceramic decorations that charm visitors of all ages. It’s a simple but rewarding stop to admire the village from above.
Vietri is an excellent base for exploring the Amalfi Coast: nearby villages include Amalfi, Positano and Cetara. Cetara is especially known for its anchovy sauce (colatura di alici), a local specialty to try in regional dishes or take home.
Vietri sul Mare is easily reachable from Salerno by local buses and taxis; it’s a short drive from the A3 motorway. Once there, the village is best explored on foot.
Why go: for a blend of craftsmanship, sea views and authentic Amalfi Coast atmosphere, Vietri sul Mare is an ideal spring weekend destination or stop on a coastal itinerary.
